    Mathematics GRE Waiver Petition

    Applicants to Illinois State University's Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Biomathematics, and Actuarial Science program sequences may submit this form to petition to have their GRE application requirement waived.

    Mathematics, Applied Statistics, and Biomathematics applicants may request a GRE waiver if their cumulative GPA is between 3.2 and 3.6. Applicants with a CGPA above 3.6 should not complete this form as you will be awarded an automatic waiver after you apply to the program. To be granted the waiver, you must provide documentation for at least one of the following:

    • A peer-reviewed publication in your intended field of study.

    • A grant awarded to you for work in your intended field of study.

    • A state-level or higher award for work you have done in your intended field of study.

    • A major GPA of 3.6 or higher.

    Actuarial Science applicants may request a GRE waiver if they have passed two Society of Actuaries Exams or two Casualty Actuarial Society Exams. 

    Interested applicants may petition for a waiver by providing the information below.

    Approval for a GRE waiver will be reviewed by the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies based upon all available information regarding your potential success in the program.
