    Mathematics GRE Waiver Petition

    Applicants to Illinois State University's Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Biomathematics, and Actuarial Science program sequences may submit this form to petition to have their GRE application requirement waived.

    Mathematics, Applied Statistics, and Biomathematics applicants must have a GPA between 3.2 and 3.6 to qualify to submit a GRE waiver petition. The petition must be submitted to demonstrate academic excellence and should include evidence such as major GPA, peer-reviewed publications, grants, awards, and other relevant achievements that show potential success in the program.

    Actuarial Science applicants may petition to have the GRE requirement waived if the following exams are completed and passed:
    • Society of Actuaries Exam P/Casualty Actuarial Society Exam 1 (or equivalent credit)
    • Society of Actuaries Exam FM/Casualty Actuarial Society Exam 2 (or equivalent credit)
    Interested applicants may petition for a waiver by providing the information below. Approval for a GRE waiver will be reviewed by the Department Chair for the Mathematics Program based upon all available information regarding your potential success in the program.
