Admissions Portal
Applicants to the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) and Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) programs at Illinois State University may petition to have the GRE requirement waived if they meet one of the following criteria:
Interested applicants may petition for a waiver by providing the information below and submitting the form along with a current copy of their resume and a copy of their transcript (can be unofficial) to the School of IT at schoolit@ilstu.edu. Approval for GRE waivers will be at the discretion of the Graduate Admissions Committee based on all available information regarding your potential success in the program.
Review Process:
The Graduate Admissions Committee in the School of Information Technology will review the waiver requests on a case-by-case basis. Decisions to grant a waiver will be based on the documented evidence of academic or professional excellence relative to the criteria set forth in this policy.
Applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decision within two weeks of submitting their request.
Please note: a GRE waiver does not guarantee admission to the programs. All other admission requirements must be met.
This policy is subject to review and modification by the academic leadership of the MSIS and MSCS programs and may be adjusted based on the evolving needs of the programs and the university.
GRE Waiver Justification: Please provide a short statement as to why you believe your past degree program(s) and/or professional/academic achievements will allow you to be successful in the MSIS or MSCS program.
